Lower UK air pollution limits to prevent deaths, says coroner

I’ve read an article about recent research on air pollution in the UK. Philip Barlow, coroner for inner south London, ruled earlier this year that air pollution from traffic was a cause of the death of nine-year-old Ella Kissi-Debrah in 2013, which was the first time that toxic air was directly contributed to a death. In my opinion, people do not see the seriousness of the problem of air pollution. We are still doing too little to improve its quality. It is known that change will not happen in a year or two, but we should finally understand what is happening and at least try to do something. For example, if it’s possible, use public transport, introduce obligatory car inspections to minimize the risk of releasing harmful substances into the atmosphere, tighten penalties for burning rubbish in stoves, and many others. The death of one person may not seem like a good reason to drastically tighten air quality standards, but I belive that if the UK and other countries don't do anty

Minnesota officer who killed Daunte Wright resigns along with police chief

Some time ago I’ve read an article about a police officer that „accidentaly” killed Black man. Kim Potter, the white Minnesota police officer who fatally shot the Black resident, Daunte Wright, during a traffic stop, and her chief of police, Tim Gannon, resigned on Tuesday. It happened after 2 nights of protests in the Minneapolis. A woman admitted that she wanted to use a stun gun, but instead of that she used normal gun. Although in this case the use of a gun and the death of the man were an unfortunate mistake, this is not the first time that the police have abused their power over black people. The Black Lives Matter movement has made people who have experienced injustice by the police take to the streets and say out loud that they have had enough of it. I completely support current  protests,  because we cannot ignore such situations and justify them in any way. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/apr/13/daunte-wright-officer-kim-potter-police-chief-resign

Far right puts brakes on a new law that aims to stamp out homophobia in Italy

I’ve read an article about fighting against homophobia in Italy. About 2 weeks ago a gay couple who kissed at a metro station in Rome were attacked. One of the man was hit and kicked by an aggressor after kissing his boyfriend who also got kicked. A bill that would extend the rights of LGBT people didn’t pass through the Senate. The reasons were changes in the Senate and resistance from far-right politicians. I support activits, but the problem of homophobia affects people all over the world. I find it scary that people in the 21st century are afraid to be themselves and have to pretend to be someone to feel safe. It's also ridiculous that there are people who say that being different is synonymous with a disease that needs to be treated. Everyone has the right to their own opinion as long as it does not pose a threat to someone's safety or life, because freedom of speech and hate speech are two different things. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/04/far-right-puts-b
