Journey to the deepest place on Earth
Few days ago I read an article about a man - James Cameron - who has explored Mariana Trench.
Mariana Trench is the deepest known oceanic trench on Earth, located in the western Pacific Ocean, southeast of the Mariana Islands. It stretches in an arc nearly 2.000 km long.
A man has builded his own bathyscaphe and after many years of tests it was time to try it out. Cameron was really uncertain about this, because the pressure at depth 11.000 m is very high.
After 35 minutes he reach the depth at which the Titanic wreckage rested (3810 meters). When he finally hit the bottom he saw rock formations and the lack of any life forms.
8 months after the expedition he announced preliminary research results; it turned out that there was 20.000 different types of bacteria at the bottom. The most interesting information is that one of Obnoogs which was discovered produces a compound that is currently being researched as a potential cure for Alzheimer's disease.

Use sources in English, in this case another version of the National Geographic. I bet they have even more info on this achievement.
